How to
Plan
Your Trip
Follow these five straightforward steps to get from your origin to your destination using the Public Transit Hub network. Whether you're a first-time rider or a seasoned commuter, this guide ensures a smooth journey every time.
Step 01
Find Your Route
Use the Routes directory to search by suburb, landmark, or route number. Filter by service type — bus, train, tram, or ferry — to narrow down your options and identify the most direct connection.
Step 02
Check the Timetable
Review departure and arrival times for your chosen route. Note peak-hour frequencies, last service times, and any weekend or public holiday variations. Set a reminder so you never miss your service.
Step 03
Purchase Your Ticket
Buy your fare using contactless card, mobile wallet, or the Transit Hub app before boarding. Multi-trip passes and daily caps offer the best value for regular commuters. Concession cards are accepted at all terminals.
Step 04
Locate Your Stop
Every stop in the network is clearly signposted with route numbers and real-time arrival displays. Use the stop ID printed on the sign to track your service live. Interchange hubs are marked with wayfinding maps.
Step 05
Board the Correct Service
Confirm the route number and destination displayed on the front of the vehicle before boarding. Tap on with your card or show your ticket to the driver. Sit back, relax, and enjoy a comfortable journey to your destination.
Travel Tips
& Guides
Make the most of every journey with our curated guides. From navigating peak hour crowds to travelling with oversized luggage, we've got practical advice for every type of commuter.
Navigating Peak Hour Like a Pro
Peak services run Monday to Friday, 7–9am and 4–6:30pm. Trains and buses are at maximum capacity during these windows. Travel 15 minutes earlier or later to secure a seat. Platform 1 and 2 at Central Interchange are the least congested boarding points. Pre-load your transit card the night before to avoid queues at ticket machines.
Accessible Travel Options
All trains and major bus routes are wheelchair accessible with low-floor boarding. Audio announcements and tactile paving guide vision-impaired passengers. Request priority seating via the driver or station staff.
Multi-Modal Connections
Seamlessly transfer between bus, train, tram, and ferry services at designated interchange hubs. Your single fare covers all connections within a 90-minute travel window. Check the interchange map at major stations.
Contactless Payment Methods
Tap on and off with Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay, or Google Pay at all boarding points. The Transit Hub card offers the lowest per-trip fare and automatic daily capping. Top up online, via the app, or at any station kiosk.

Luggage & Oversized Items Policy
Standard luggage up to 70cm × 50cm × 30cm is permitted on all services at no extra charge. Bicycles are allowed on trains outside peak hours in designated carriage sections. Prams and strollers may board without folding — use the priority boarding zone near the front doors. Oversized sporting equipment requires a luggage ticket purchased at the station.
